In the United States, the American Red Cross is the go to place for first aid training. You will learn everything from basic first aid to adult, child and infant CPR. Classes at the Red Cross are taught at all times of the day and of the week, helping even the busiest person fit a class into their schedule. You will receive certification for the session and you will simply need to renew the training after a few years. The Red Cross will also give you a training booklet to review on your own.

Though getting first aid training from a book isn’t the best way to learn, it will help you with basic medical emergencies. By taking a few hours a week to look over basic first aid techniques, you will learn what you need to look for and what you need to do should someone become injured or you yourself become injured. Look for first aid training books that were written and edited by physicians and large medical corporations to make sure that the information is accurate and useful.

Take a Community Course

Some local community centers and schools may also offer first aid training. Check to see if your town does and you might find that these classes are much cheaper than the Red Cross without being any less in terms of quality. You can also talk to your local colleges and universities to see if they are offering first aid training to the local community.
